Big Ass, a Thai rock band originating from Bangkok, formed in 1996 with Ekkarat "Dax" Wongchalard as the leading vocalist. The band initially gained traction with their debut album Not Bad released in 1997 under Music Bugs label. Their subsequent albums, XL (2000) and My World (2003), garnered critical acclaim but had limited commercial success. In 2004, Big Ass signed with Genie Records under GMM Grammy and released their fourth album Seven, which marked a significant breakthrough in terms of awards and popularity. The album won multiple accolades including Best Rock Group and Best Rock Album at the Seventeenth Season Awards in March 2005. Notable songs from this period include "Len Khong Soong" from Seven and "Kha Noi Somkhuan Tai" from their fifth full album Begins. The band also contributed to soundtracks for films like Pid Term Yai Hua Jai Wawun (2008) and TV series such as Hormones the Series (season 2, 2014). In July 2012, Ekkarat Wongchalard left the band, and Daycha "Jeng" Konarlo took over as the lead vocalist. Big Ass released their eighth album The Lion in 2017, followed by ลายนิ้วมือ in 2022, celebrating their twenty-fifth anniversary in music. Throughout their career, Big Ass has been recognized with numerous awards including Best Rock Duo or Band at the Sixteenth Season Awards in March 2004 and Most Popular Band at the Siamdara Stars Awards 2013.
