Banda Maguey

Banda Maguey is a Mexican technobanda group from Villa Corona, Jalisco, formed in 1991 by Fernando Guardado Rosales. The band's lineup solidified with the addition of lead singer Ernesto Solano, who composed several of their songs. They released their debut album, Tumbando Caña (1993), under MCM Records. Their breakthrough came in 1994 when the single "El alacrán" gained radio dominance and topped charts in Mexico and the United States. The band later signed with Fonovisa and released albums such as La Estrella de los Bailes (1995), featuring the hit "Si tú no estás", and Tu Eterno Enamorado (1996). They also released the album El Mundo Gira (1997), featuring the hit "Pero te amo". In 1998, they joined BMG and released Lágrimas de Sangre (1998), which included the popular track "Quiero volver". Despite lineup changes and the departure of Solano, Banda Maguey continued to release albums such as Para Que No Me Olvides (2009) and Lo Que Son las Cosas (2012). In the 2020s, their catalog remained active, including a 30th-anniversary release titled "Popurrí Quebraditas" (2024), and they returned with new material such as the single "Los Vaqueritos" (2025).
