Australian Crawl, an Australian pop band, was formed in Melbourne in 1978. The original lineup included James Reyne on lead vocals and piano, Brad Robinson on rhythm guitar, Paul Williams on bass, Simon Binks on lead guitar, and David Reyne on drums. After David Reyne left the group, he was replaced by Bill McDonough. Their first single, âBeautiful Peopleâ, reached number 22 on the national charts in 1979. The band's debut album, The Boys Light Up, released in 1980, included hit singles such as âIndisposedâ and âDownheartedâ. It peaked at number 4 on the Australian album charts and remained there for an unbroken 101 weeks. Their subsequent albums, Sirocco (1981) and Sons of Beaches (1982), both reached Number 1. The band faced internal upheaval from 1983 onwards, with key members leaving or passing away. Despite these challenges, Australian Crawl was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 1996.
