American Flyer was a United States rock group formed in 1976, comprising Craig Fuller of Pure Prairie League, Eric Kaz of Blues Magoos, Steve Katz of Blood, Sweat & Tears, and Doug Yule of Velvet Underground, whose collective experience positioned the band within the American folk-rock scene. The ensembleâs breakthrough came with the single "Let Me Down Easy" released in October 1976, which reached number 80 on the United States Billboard Hot 100, followed by "Light Of Your Love" / "Back In '57" and "Lady Blue Eyes" that year. In the same year, the group issued its self-titled debut American Flyer, produced by George Martin, and the album charted at number 87 on the United States Billboard 200. Their second studio effort, Spirit Of A Woman, appeared in 1977 and peaked at number 171 on the United States Billboard 200, solidifying their modest commercial presence. The band disbanded in 1978 after a brief but productive period.
