Alvin Stardust

Bernard William Jewry, known professionally as Alvin Stardust, was born on 27 September 1942 in Muswell Hill, England. He began his music career in the early 1960s under the name Shane Fenton and had a moderately successful run with four UK top 40 singles between 1961-62. His first notable hits were "I'm A Moody Guy", "Walk Away", "It's All Over Now" and their biggest hit, "Cindy's Birthday", all released on Parlophone Records. After a decade-long hiatus from the spotlight, Jewry reinvented himself as Alvin Stardust in 1973, capitalizing on the glam rock trend with hits like "Jealous Mind", which topped the UK Singles Chart, and later successes such as "You, You, You" and "Red Dress". He continued to release albums throughout his career, including The Untouchable (1973), Alvin Stardust (1974), and Rock with Alvin (1975). Jewry also ventured into acting, appearing in films like Play It Cool (1962) and It's All Happening (1963), as well as stage productions such as Godspell, David Copperfield – The Musical, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. He passed away on October 23, 2014.
