Full name Alejandro Sánchez Pizarro, born in Madrid on December 18, 1968, Alejandro Sanz is a Spanish singer-songwriter. An emblematic figure of Spanish-language pop music, he established himself in the 1990s as one of the most influential singers in the Latin world, thanks to his sensitive songwriting, his husky, passionate voice and his unique fusion of flamenco, pop and world music. The son of an Andalusian guitarist, he was introduced to flamenco at an early age and began playing guitar as a child. After a few discreet attempts under the pseudonym Alejandro Magno, he released his first official album, Viviendo Deprisa, in 1991, which included the hits "Los Dos Cogidos de la Mano " and "Pisando Fuerte" , setting off a meteoric rise to success in Spain. He confirmed this success with Si Tú Me Miras (1993), which showed the first signs of a more refined musical style, and above all with 3 (1995), which catapulted him onto the Latin American scene with tracks such as "La Fuerza del Corazón " and "Mi Soledad y Yo ". But it was the album Más (1997) that established him on the international scene: selling over 6 million copies, it contains the unmissable hits "Corazón Partío, Y, ¿Si Fuera Ella?" and "Amiga Mía ", and became an absolute classic of Latin pop. In 2000, El Alma al Aire confirmed this domination with tracks such as "Cuando Nadie Me Ve " and "Quisiera Ser", and a music ever more open to Brazilian and Andalusian sounds. His career took on a new dimension with prestigious collaborations: he worked with The Corrs on The Hardest Day (2000), then with Shakira on the duet "La Tortura " (2005), a huge global hit, marking a turn towards urban pop and consolidating his influence in Latin America. In 2003, he released No Es Lo Mismo, an album with a more committed, modern sound, followed by El Tren de los Momentos (2006), on which he collaborated with Juanes, Residente (Calle 13) and Shakira. He continued his journey with acclaimed albums such as Paraíso Express (2009), which includes the hit "Looking for Paradise " in a duet with Alicia Keys, La Música No Se Toca (2012), Sirope (2015), and #ElDisco (2019), featuring Camila Cabello on "Mi Persona Favorita ", a track that won him another Grammy Award. In 2021, he releases Sanz, a more introspective album. Alejandro Sanz holds 22 Latin Grammy Awards and 4 Grammy Awards at the time of release of the ¿Y ahora Qué? EP (2025), including the hits "Hoy No Me Siento Bien" and "Bésame", featuring Shakira.
