Chayanne

Elmer Figueroa Arce, who goes by the name Chayanne, is a Latin pop singer from Puerto Rico who first garnered attention as a member of the group Los Chicos, who had a handful of hit recordings until they disbanded in 1984. He released his debut solo album, 'Chayanne es mi Nombre,' in 1984 followed by 'Sangre Latina' in 1986. He broke through to a wider audience with an eponymous release that was nominated in 1989 for a Grammy Award as Best Latin Pop Performance. He has released many albums since including 'Atado a tu Amor', which was nominated for a Grammy Award as Best Latin Pop Performance in 1998; 'Simplemente', which was nominated for a Grammy as Best Latin Pop Album in 2001; and 'Sincero', which was nominated as Best Latin Pop Album in 2003. His tracks have appeared in Spanish-language films and he has appeared in television shows such as 'Ally McBeal', 'la niñera' and 'Gabriel'. His album 'Personalidad' came out in 2015. He tours regularly and his 2019 schedule was to include appearances at venues in Colombia and across Mexico.
