ABCHO

ABCHO was a short-lived Japanese pop duo formed in 2012 by former Morning Musume members Rika Ishikawa and Hitomi Yoshizawa. Known previously for their darker, avant-garde collaboration as HANGRY\&ANGRY-f, the two artists launched ABCHO as a contrast—embracing a more vibrant, edgy pop concept. The group name is an abbreviation of "ABSTRACT CHOP," reflecting their mission to “chop” through conventions with ultramodern pop energy. Their only official release, the single "Me o Tojite Gyutto Shiyo", dropped on May 23, 2012. It served as the opening theme for the first 13 episodes of the anime Sengoku Collection aired on TV Tokyo. The announcement of the unit and their theme song was made in February 2012, followed by the reveal of the group's name and concept in early March. ABCHO did not release additional material or albums, functioning more as a one-off project within the Hello! Project legacy. The group effectively disbanded in September 2018 when Yoshizawa retired from the entertainment industry.
