49 Winchester

49 Winchester is an American alternative country, Americana and southern rock band from Castlewood, Virginia. Formed in 2013 around lead singer and songwriter Isaac Gibson, it also includes Chase Chafin (bass), Bus Shelton (guitar), Noah Patrick (pedal steel guitar), Tim Hall (keyboards) and Justin Louthian (drums). The band develops a style blending Americana, Southern rock, alternative country and Appalachian soul, with introspective lyrics rooted in rural life and Appalachian culture. Their recording debut dates back to 2014 with a self-titled debut album, followed by The Wind (2018) and III (2020), which earned them growing recognition on the indie scene. In 2022, they signed with New West Records and released Fortune Favors the Bold, which marked a turning point with more assertive production and national exposure, not least thanks to their presence at several major festivals and opening for artists like Tyler Childers and Whiskey Myers. Their next album, Leavin' This Holler (2024), confirmed their roots in a sound that is both classic and contemporary, at the crossroads of rock, country and soul. The band is renowned for its energetic live performances, Gibson's deep, expressive voice, and loyalty to its regional roots.
