3rd Line Butterfly

3호선 버터플라이, or 3rd Line Butterfly, is an indie rock band whose 2012 album, Dreamtalk, was named "Album of the Year" at the Korean Music Awards in 2013. Seong Kiwan, Nam Sangah, Kim Sangwoo and Park Hyeonjoon formed the group's original lineup in 1999 in Seoul, South Korea. Self-Titled Obsession, their debut album, followed in 2000. Two years later, the band contributed to the soundtrack of the South Korean TV series Ruler of Your Own World and released a second album, Oh! Silence. Following the release of Time Table in 2004, 3호선 버터플라이 took a brief break before releasing an EP, 2009's Nine Days or a Million, in commemoration of the band's 10-year anniversary. The EP's most successful track, "Deep Night, in the Fog," received a nomination for "Song of the Year" at the Korean Music Awards. 3호선 버터플라이 returned to the Korean Music Awards in 2013, this time to collect three different awards — "Best Modern Rock Album," "Best Modern Rock Song," and "Album of the Year" — for the band's fourth album, Dreamtalk. Divided By Zero followed in 2017, went gold in South Korea, and marked the final appearance from original member Seong Kiwan, who left the band's roster shortly after the album's release. Two years later, the group embarked upon an extended hiatus.
