The two rappers Mike Rohleder and Daniel Schneider from Essen are the rap duo 257ers. The group's name is derived from the zip code of Kupferdreh, the district in Essen where the musicians come from. 257ers was founded in 2005 by Kolja Scholz, Mike Rohleder and Daniel Schneider. Two years later, Mit Essen spielt man nicht was released. In 2008, the mixtape Scheiß auf Rappen was released with guest contributions from Jason, Starfaze and Favorite as well as participation in the hip-hop battle series Feuer über Deutschland. 257ers released the debut album Hokus Pokus in spring 2009 with the tracks "Regenbogen" and "Persönlicher Weckruf". The second album Zwen was released at the end of 2010, with joint songs with Ras Timbo and Favorite. The band reached the top of the German charts with their 2014 album Boomshakkalakka. Two years later, Kolja Scholz left 257ers and another number 1 album, Mikrokosmos, followed as well as a live tour through Germany. In the same year, the duo was awarded the 1LIVE Krone as best band. In 2019, the hip-hop duo released two albums, including Alpaka with a guest contribution from the band Captain Jack and Abrakadabra with the track "Autopilot", which was created in collaboration with rapper Sido. After the album Hömma! released in 2020, a rap feature of the song "Hypa Hypa" was released in 2021. In 2022, the 257ers released the album Das Ende vom Anfang. The album Masturbation followed a year later and also achieved another chart position in Germany at number 25. In May 2025, the album Freundschaft Plus is released, on which the 257ers perform songs together with fellow rappers and bands. The album climbs to number 51.
