Z-Ro

Joseph Wayne McVey, born January 19, 1977 in Houston, Texas, is an American rapper known as Z‑Ro. After a turbulent youth, he began freestyle rapping and was signed to a local label, releasing his debut Look What You Did to Me in 1998. His catalog includes The Life of Joseph Wayne McVey (2004), Let the Truth Be Told (2005), I’m Still Livin’ (2006), and later works such as Heroin (2010), Meth (2011), Angel Dust (2012), The Crown (2014), Melting the Crown (2015), Drankin’ & Drivin’ (2016), Legendary (2016), and No Love Boulevard (2017). After a brief retirement, he returned with Codeine (2017) and collaborated with artists like Slim Thug and Boosie Badazz, maintaining a notable presence in Southern hip‑hop. Z-Ro's prolific output continued with albums Sädism (2018), Rohammad Ali (2020), Pressure (2022), The Ghetto Gospel (2024), Call Me Rother (2024), and Unappreciated (2025).
