Yuriyan Retriever

Yuriyan Retriever, born Yuri Yoshida on 1 November 1990 in Yoshino, Nara, Japan, is a comedian and pop singer who first gained national attention after winning the 47th NHK Kamigata Manzai Contest in 2017 and the R‑1 Grand Prix in 2021. She released her debut single "Tomodachi Shikkaku" on 25 October 2017, followed by "Venus" on 1 September 2025 under Universal Sigma; both singles charted within the top 30 of the Oricon singles chart. In 2023 she collaborated on a remix of Awich’s "Bad Bitch Bigaku", and in 2025 she released the single "Yuriyan Time" before signing with Universal Sigma and embarking on a nationwide promotional tour. Her transition to the United States was marked by a 2025 move to Los Angeles, where she continued stand‑up training while maintaining a presence in Japan, performing at events such as Expo 2025: Ōsaka–Kansai Banpaku and selling branded training apparel. In 2025 she directed the feature film MAG MAG, which premiered at Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre during Beyond Fest and was later screened at 22 international festivals, earning awards including the Halekulani Vanguard Award and the Audience Award of the “Temps O” section at the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma. Her career remains active, with ongoing releases and film projects, and she continues to influence both comedy and pop music spheres.
