Young Dread comes from South Carolina and claims to be descended from slaves from Sierra Leone. He claims to belong to a community called Gullah, which has its own particular dialect. Identity considerations aside, Young Dread is a free and determined artist. With his energetic dancehall rap, he took his destiny into his own hands and became one of the best-referenced independent artists on the Internet after joining the TouchTunes entertainment site. In 2009, Young Dread released Same Color As the President, followed by The Street Album in 2011.
