Youki Kudoh, born 17 January 1971 in HachiÅji, Japan, began her career as a child idol at age 12, appearing in television commercials before signing with a record label in 1984. Her debut single "éçæä»£" was released on 20 December 1984, followed by "ããã¤ã³" in April 1985, establishing her presence in the Jâpop scene. In 1985 she released her first studio album Sensation, followed by Only You, which was complemented by Memories in 1986 and Surprise in 1989, each charting within the top 30 of the Oricon Albums Chart. The 1994 album Actress reached the top 20 and showcased a shift toward a more mature pop sound. After a period focused on acting and international projects, Youki Kudoh returned to music in 2023 with the EP ç¶ããè¦ã¦ã¾ãã/ããä¸éé§ , which highlighted her continued relevance in contemporary Japanese pop. Her career has been marked by consistent chart performance, a collaboration with director Jim Jarmusch on the soundtrack for Mystery Train, and recognition as a significant figure in 1980s Japanese pop culture.
