Yiannis Katevas, born on October 8, 1950, in Komotini, Greece, is a Greek singer and songwriter. He began his career at age 16 as vocalist and lead guitarist of the pop group "The Beatniks." He was mentored by composer Giorgos Mitsakis, who wrote his first two songs for Columbia Records. His debut studio album Îαι ÎÏÏιο και ΠάνÏα was released in 1976. Throughout his career, he released multiple full-length studio albums, including notable singles like "Τα ÎιαÏεμάκια Î£Î¿Ï " (1979) and "Îα ÎÎÎγαÏÎ¬Ï Î¤ÏÏα" (1981). Many of these albums went gold, featuring hit singles such as "Îν ÎινÏÏανε" (1976), "Îν Î¼Î¿Ï ÏαÏίÏÎ¿Ï Î½" (1979), and "Î Î¿Î¹Î¿Ï ÎÏÏÏ ÎÎ¿Ï Î Î¿Î¹Î¿Ï" (1995). Apart from singing, Yiannis Katevas also plays guitar and has written the majority of the music in his recordings. His later works, including Îεια ÏÎ¿Ï Îλλάδα (2003) and Îαι ÏοÏεÏει η Îλλάδα (2006), celebrate traditional dance music with medleys from various regions of Greece.
