Yesung

Born Kim Jong-woon on August 24, 1984, in Seoul, South Korea, singer-songwriter and actor Yesung spent most of his childhood in the city of Chenan, South Chungcheong. From a very young age, he demonstrated a natural aptitude for singing and participated in several talent shows, winning the gold medal at a local competition in 1999. A few years later, he became a trainee for SM Entertainment, making his official debut on Super Junior 05's 2005 single "Twins (Knock Out)." In the following years, Yesung took part in three of the group's sub-units—Super Junior-K.R.Y., Super Junior-H, and SM The Ballad—while also launching a successful acting career and serving in the military. Even though he had made a few contributions to a couple of film soundtracks up to that point, Yesung finally unveiled his first solo effort Here I Am in April 2016. The EP climbed all the way up to Number 2 on the Circle Chart and was followed by the equally successful extended play Spring Falling a year later. He would resume his solo endeavors in 2019 with the release of the extended play Pink Magic and the Japanese album Story, which reached Number 7 on the Oricon Albums Chart. In 2021, Yesung scored his first chart-topper in South Korea with Beautiful Night, his fourth EP. The acclaimed pop artist continued his winning streak in 2023 when his sophomore effort Sensory Flows hit Number 4 in the Circle Chart and Number 19 on Japan's Line Music Albums Chart.
