Real name Michael Wayne Atha, Yelawolf is an American rapper born in Gadsden, Alabama (USA), on December 30, 1979. He became interested in hip-hop culture as a teenager and released his debut album, Radioactive (2011), on Eminem's label, Shady Records, after experimenting with mixtapes. The label features a number of well-known names in support of his Southern alternative rap. The following year, he teamed up with Bllink-182 drummer Travis Barker for the rock-tinged Psycho White EP, then set to work on a second album, Love Story, which didn't see the light of day until 2015. Produced by Eminem, it's a hit, reaching #3 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the rap and R&B charts. His third album Trial by Fire was released in 2017, followed by Trunk Music 3 and Ghetto Cowboy in 2019. Yelawolf then collaborates on several albums with Caskey, Riff Raff, DJ Paul and DJ Muggs. Back on his own with Mud Mouth (2021), he then shared the microphone with Waylond Jennings and Jessi Colter's son, Shooter Jennings, for the country-rock opus Sometimes Y (2022). He returned to his rap, pop, country and southern roots on War Story (2024), followed by Whiskey & Roses with country singer J. Michael Phillips in 2025.
