Yasmine Hamdan

Yasmine Hamdan is a Lebanese singer and actress born in Beirut in 1976. In 1998, she founded the duo Soap Kills with Zed Hamdan, one of the first electro-pop formations in the Middle East, before moving to Paris where she collaborated with producer Mirwais (ex-Taxi Girl), forming the entity Y.A.S. which produced the albumAräbology (2009), offering a new synthesis between oriental music and electro. In 2012, she teamed up with Marc Collin, known for his work with Ollano and Nouvelle Vague, to produce her eponymous debut solo album. The following year, a new version entitled Ya Nass was released on the Crammed Discs label, featuring five additional songs including the main theme from Jim Jarmusch's film Only Lovers Left Alive. 2017 saw the release of Al Jamilat, recorded between Paris, London and Beirut with producers Leo Abrahams and Luke Smith. Her songs are the subject of remixed versions by Acid Arab, Matias Aguayo, Brandt Frauer Frick and others for Jamilat Reprise (2018). The artist married to director Elia Suleiman returns in 2025 with the album I Remember I Forget بنسىوبتذكر
