Xtatik

Xtatik, a Soca band from Trinidad and Tobago, was formed in 1989. The group evolved from Pranasonic Express, which was established in 1984 in Port of Spain by Machel Montano on vocals along with other members. Xtatik's early albums Breaking Out (1990) and One Step Ahead (1991) were locally successful in Trinidad & Tobago. The band successfully blended Soca and dancehall sounds, and later fused Soca with house music on "Come Dig It" (1995), gaining exposure in the United States. Xtatik won the Trinidad Road March title in 1997 with "Big Truck" and again in 1998 with "Footsteps". Other notable albums include Heavy Duty (1997) and On the Cusp (2002).
