Wucan

Wucan is a rock band from Dresden that was founded in 2011. The group combines hard and folk rock with psychedelic, doom and stoner elements and is particularly notable for the use of the flute and the distinctive voice of singer Francis Tobolsky. In addition to Tobolsky, who also plays guitar, the current line-up includes Tim George on lead guitar, Alexander Karlisch on bass and Philip Knöfel on drums. Wucan released their first EP Vikarma in 2014, which brought the band to the attention of the rock scene. The debut album Sow the Wind was released in 2015, paving the way for the first major tours. Two years later, Reap the Storm (2017) followed, on which Wucan expanded their sound with longer compositions and integrated stronger German lyrical elements for the first time. With Heretic Tongues (2022), the band reached number 57 in the German album charts and presented songs such as "Far And Beyond", which emphasized the characteristic mix of retro rock and modern influences. The most successful work to date is the album Axioms (2025), which reaches number 30 in the German charts and contains songs such as "Irons in the Fire".
