Wretch 32

British rapper of Jamaican descent Jermaine Scott Sinclair (born Tottenham, London, March 9, 1985), frequented the groups Combination, Chain Gang and The Movement, where he met Scorcher, Ghetts and Devlin, before embarking on a solo career under the name Wretch 32. In 2006, he produced his first mixtape, Learn from My Mixtape, followed by two more before the arrival of his debut album, Wretchospective (2008), featuring contributions from Scorcher, Chipmunk, Ghetts, Wizzy Wow, Bashy, Wiley, Sneakbo and Tinie Tempah. Under this sponsorship, the rapper from the grime scene brings in other musical elements such as R&B, drum'n'bass and dancehall. Signed by the Ministry of Sound label, in 2011 he released the album Black and White, which reached No. 4 in the UK and brought the hits "Traktor" (No. 4), "Unorthodox " (No. 2) and his first No. 1, "Don't Go". Chosen to represent the Adidas brand at the 2012 London Olympics, Wretch 32 tours with Example and duets with Ed Sheeran on "Hush Little Baby". The Wretchercise mixtape features contributions from Kano, Chip and Krept (Krept & Konan). His third album Growing Over Life, released in 2016 after the singles "Blackout" (No. 6) and "Doing OK" (No. 60), reached No. 5, but its singles failed to achieve the success expected despite the collaborations and production of Knox Brown. Only the first single, "6 Words", reached No. 8. Meanwhile, Wretch 32 is already working on his successor FR32 (2017, No. 12), featuring performances with Avelino, Kojey Radical, Donae'o and Kojo Funds. 2019 sees the release of his fifth album Upon Reflection (No. 29), featuring the duet "10/10 " with Giggs. After the release of two EPs, Little Big Man in 2021 and Moments of Silence in 2024, Wretch 32 concentrates on the next album, featuring almost one collaborator per track, including Mercston and Ghetts, Skip Marley, Protoje, WSTRN, Little Simz and Benjamin A.D, Cashh, Skrapz, Nino SLG and Tiggs Da Author. Entitled Home? this sixth album, released in May 2025, reveals influences from reggae, afrobeats, soul/R&B and garage house.
