World Class Wreckin' Cru

World Class Wreckin' Cru was an American electro group formed in 1983 in Los Angeles. The group, which included members such as Dr. Dre and DJ Yella, debuted at Alonzo Williams’ nightclub Eve After Dark. Initially known for their dance-oriented music, the group released their first single "Slice" in 1984, followed by "Surgery" in 1985. Their debut album World Class was released under Kru-Cut Records in 1985 and featured notable tracks like "Juice". The success of these early releases led to a major record deal with CBS/Epic Records, resulting in the release of their second album Rapped In Romance in 1986. During this period, World Class Wreckin' Cru gained significant popularity in the underground scene and released several locally successful songs including "Turn Off The Lights" which peaked at Number 54 on the Billboard Black Singles Charts in 1987. However, internal tensions and creative differences led to the group's disbandment in 1988. Dr. Dre and DJ Yella went on to achieve greater fame as members of N.W.A., while other members pursued various solo projects.
