Wolfgang Niedecken & Complizen

Wolfgang Niedecken (born March 30, 1951 in Cologne) is a German musician and painter. He studied free painting at the FHBK Cologne and founded the Cologne rock band BAP in Cologne in 1976, of which he remains the singer, lyricist, composer and only remaining founding member to this day. Since the early 1970s, he has also been active as a visual artist and has designed many BAP album covers himself. In 1987, he founded the side project Wolfgang Niedecken & Complizen. Wolfgang Niedecken gathers companions such as Dominik von Senger (guitar), Mattes Keul (keyboards), Axel Risch (bass), Jan Dix (drums) and Schmal Boecker (percussion) around him. Musically, the band plays rock, especially singer/songwriter and pop-rock. The debut album Schlagzeiten is released in 1987. It reaches number 5 in the German charts, stays there for 20 weeks and is also placed in Austria (28) and Switzerland (14). The single "Maat Et Joot" climbs to 47th place in the German charts and remains in the charts for eight weeks. No further releases appear after this.
