Josh Wink, born Joshua Winkelman on April 20, 1970, in Philadelphia, United States, emerged as a pioneering electronic music producer and DJ. Early exposure to techno and acid house scenes in the late 1980s led to his first commercial releases in the mid-1990s, including âHigher State of Consciousnessâ (1995) and âDonât Laughâ, which positioned him at the forefront of the American rave and international club circuit. The momentum continued with the 2000 single âHowâs Your Evening So Far?â, followed by âEvil Acidâ (2001) and âSuperfreak (Freak)â (2002), establishing a signature high-energy, acid-driven sound that would define much of his subsequent output. In 2003, Wink released the album 20 to 20, alongside releases such as the EP 516 Acid and the single âFill Me With Acidâ, reinforcing his reputation as a leading figure in acid techno and techno more broadly. Throughout the 2000s, Wink maintained a steady presence on international club tours, continued releasing influential singles and EPs on his Ovum Recordings label, and later expanded his stylistic range on the album When a Banana Was Just a Banana (2009). His work earned sustained recognition within electronic music publications, and his tracks have continued to influence emerging producers well beyond the late 2000s.
