William Elliott Whitmore

William Elliott Whitmore, born on May 11, 1978, in Lee County, Iowa, is an American blues singer and musician. Growing up on a family farm, he was influenced by his musical parents and grandparents. Whitmore began his music career as a roadie for the Iowa City punk band Ten Grand, eventually performing as an opener and touring extensively with them. He released his first albums Hymns for the Hopeless (2003), Ashes to Dust (2005), and Song of the Blackbird (2006) under Southern Records. In 2009, he signed with ANTI- Records, releasing Animals in the Dark, which reached Number 50 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Whitmore has collaborated with artists such as Esmé Patterson and formed the folk band Middle Western. His notable tours include performances with Chris Cornell and City and Colour. Whitmore's live act features his distinctive deep baritone voice, often accompanied by banjo or guitar.
