Will Tura

Will Tura is a Belgian singer, musician, and songwriter born Arthur Achiel Albert Blanckaert on August 2, 1940, in Veurne. Known as the "Emperor of the Flemish Song," he began his professional career in 1957. Tura achieved a major breakthrough with the 1962 single “Eenzaam zonder jou”, which became a Number 1 hit in 1963. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, he maintained immense popularity with hits such as “Draai 797204” and “Het kan niet zijn”. In 1974, he became the first Belgian artist to sell out the Vorst Nationaal in Brussels. Tura recorded his 1984 tribute album Will Tura zingt Elvis Presley in Nashville with Presley's original band. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of the Crown in 1999 and was raised to the nobility as a Knight in 2001. In 1993, he performed at the funeral of King Baudouin. After a career spanning sixty years, Tura retired from performing in 2023 following a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease.
