Wet Willie, an American southern rock band from Mobile, Alabama, formed in 1969. Drummer Lewis Ross assembled the initial lineup, which later became known as Wet Willie after relocating to Macon, Georgia. The band's breakthrough came in 1971 when they opened for the Allman Brothers Band and released their self-titled debut album. Their most successful single, "Keep On Smilin'", reached number 10 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart in August 1974. Wet Willie produced several albums during their active years, including Dixie Rock (1975), Make You Feel Love Again (1977) and Weekend (1979), with notable singles such as "Country Side of Life" and "Street Corner Serenade". The band's lineup evolved over the years, featuring core members Jimmy Hall on vocals, harmonica, and saxophone; his brother Jack Hall on bass; John David Anthony on keyboards; Ricky Hirsch on guitar; and Lewis Ross on drums. Wet Willie disbanded in 1980 but reunited in 1990 with a new lineup that included original members and long-time collaborators. The band continued to release albums such as Keep On Smilin' (1997) and Miles of Smiles (2012), and they were inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2014 and Alabama Music Hall of Fame in 2016 .
