Wendy and Lisa, an American pop-rock music duo consisting of Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman, originated in Los Angeles, California. The pair began their musical journey in the early 1980s when Lisa Coleman joined Prince's touring band on keyboards and piano. In 1983, Wendy Melvoin was invited to join as guitarist for the recording of Purple Rain (1984). After contributing to several albums with Prince and the Revolution, including Around the World in a Day (1985) and Parade (1986), they left the band in 1986. Wendy and Lisa released their eponymous debut studio album in October 1987, featuring singles "Honeymoon Express", "Waterfall" and "Sideshow". Their follow-up albums include Fruit at the Bottom (1989), which included the UK top 40 single "Satisfaction", and Eroica (1990). In 1991, they released a compilation album titled Re-Mix-In-A-Carnation. Wendy and Lisa have collaborated with numerous artists, including Seal, k.d. lang, Joni Mitchell, and Madonna. They have also contributed to film and television scores, winning the ASCAP award for Composers of the Year for their work on Dangerous Minds (1995) and earning an Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music in 2010 for their work on Nurse Jackie. They have continued their soundtrack work over the years with further offerings such as 2024's Outer Range: Season Two.
