Wednesday 13 is the stage name of Joseph Michael Poole (born 12 August 1976 in Lexington, North Carolina), an American musician renowned for his contributions to the horror punk and glam metal scenes. He adopted the moniker Wednesday 13 in 1995, drawing inspiration from the character Wednesday Addams and the address 1313 Mockingbird Lane from The Munsters. His musical journey began in the early 1990s with bands like Psycho Opera and Maniac Spider Trash. In 1996, he formed the band Frankenstein Drag Queens from Planet 13, characterised by their punk rock sound and lyrics influenced by horror and sci-fi B-movies. In 2002, he joined forces with Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison to form the Murderdolls, serving as the frontman. The band gained notoriety for their theatrical performances and horror-themed lyrics, releasing albums like Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls and Women and Children Last. Following the Murderdolls' initial disbandment, he launched his solo project under the name Wednesday 13 in 2004. His solo work continued the horror punk tradition, with albums such as Transylvania 90210: Songs of Death, Dying, and the Dead and Fang Bang. Over the years, Wednesday 13's music has evolved, incorporating elements of heavy metal and gothic rock. His 2025 album, Mid Death Crisis, was a continuation of this goth metal aesthetic.
