Wayman Lawrence Tisdale, born on June 9, 1964, in Fort Worth, Texas, was an American basketball player and jazz musician. He initially discovered a passion for music but later excelled as a basketball player during his high school years. In 1985, while still active in the NBA, Tisdale signed with MoJazz and released his debut album Decisions in 1998. Over the next decade, he released several albums, including Face to Face (2001) and Hang Time (2004). His music spanned contemporary and smooth jazz. Diagnosed with a bone tumor in 2007, he underwent treatment and founded a foundation to support amputees. Despite his health challenges, Tisdale continued to release music until his death on May 15, 2009.
