Wax

Michael Jones, known professionally as Wax, was born in Dunkirk, Calvert County, Maryland. He is an American rapper and producer of Irish and Cuban descent. Jones began his musical journey by picking up a guitar and started singing and rapping in middle school. His early influences included Guns N' Roses and DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. Wax gained initial recognition through video streaming platforms, where he uploaded videos of himself rapping and singing. In 2008, he performed New Crack over a Stephen Marley track called Traffic Jam, which garnered over 2.2 million views. Wax collaborated with other notable online artists such as Dumbfoundead and Prince Ea, further expanding his audience. He released his first solo EP Biatch! in 2003. In 2011, Wax signed to Def Jam Recordings and issued the mixtape Scrublife, which included the single "Dispensary Girl". After parting ways with Def Jam in 2012, he released his debut studio album Continue... later that year, featuring the hit single "Rosana", which reached Number 1 in Austria and top 10 positions in several other European countries. Wax followed with albums such as Livin’ Foul (2015) and Push On (2016).
