Wapassou

Wapassou, a French rock band from Strasbourg, was formed in 1972 and comprised Freddy Brua on keyboards, Karin Nickerl on guitars and bass, Jacques Lichti on violin, and Fernand Landmann as an additional guest. The band's unique composition of keyboards, guitar, and violin set them apart early on. Their debut album, Wapassou, was released in 1973. In January 1976, Wapassou signed with Jean-Claude Pognant’s label Crypto for the albums: Messe en ré mineur (1976), Salammbô (1977), and Ludwig - Un Roi Pour L'éternité (1979). These albums are a trilogy that explores themes of life, death, and eternity. In 1979, Wapassou added a drummer, Dominique Metz, and later a singer to modernize their sound. They released Genuine in 1980 on the label Sterne. The group disbanded officially at the end of 1986 after more than 300 concerts. Their albums have been reissued by Musea Records.
