Walter Beasley

Walter Beasley, born May 24, 1961 in the United States, began his musical journey in El Centro, California, where by age thirteen he was performing in Spanish with the band Los Elegantes. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 1984, he joined the faculty as a short‑term instructor, a position that became permanent. Walter Beasley released his self‑titled debut album Walter Beasley in 1987, followed by Just Kickin’ It (1989), Intimacy (1993), and Walter Beasley Live and More (1996). The 1997 release Tonight We Love and the 1998 album For Your Pleasure solidified Walter Beasley's presence in contemporary R&B and smooth jazz. Subsequent albums Won’t You Let Me Love You (2000), Rendezvous (2002), Go With the Flow (2003), and For Her (2005) expanded his catalog, while The Classic R&B Collection and Greatest Hits! compilations highlighted his enduring appeal. In 2007 he issued Ready for Love and Overjoyed! A Celebration Of Stevie Wonder, and in 2009 released Free Your Mind. His most recent studio effort, Meet Me at My Place, arrived in 2022. Walter Beasley's career has earned him Boston Music Awards for Outstanding Jazz Artist (2001, 2019), a Berklee Trustee Award (2001), and SESAC National Performing Activity Awards for “Comin’ at Cha” (2001) and “Rendezvous” (2002), among other recognitions.
