Walfredo de los Reyes

Walfredo de los Reyes III, born on June 16, 1933 in Havana, Cuba, was a percussionist and drummer. Inspired by Candido Camero, he pioneered the use of multiple percussion instruments played simultaneously by one player. De los Reyes began his career performing with various artists including Josephine Baker and Cachao. His notable albums include Cuban Jazz (1960) and Sabor Cubano (1961). He collaborated extensively, working with Louie Bellson, Bobby Darin, and Dionne Warwick among others. De los Reyes was also a respected educator, conducting clinics and sessions. He passed away on August 28, 2025 in Concord, California.
