Virgilio Savona

Antonio Virgilio Savona, also known as Virgilio Savona, born December 21, 1919, in Palermo, Italy, was a singer, pianist, and composer. He started his musical education at the age of six, studying under Renata Paroni, and debuted on the radio at the age of ten. In 1940, Savona joined Quartetto Cetra, initially as a music teacher before becoming a full member. The group, featuring Tata Giacobetti, Felice Chiusano, and his wife Lucia Mannucci, gained fame for their vocal harmony and Savona's compositions. Throughout the 1970s, he was active as a pianist, orchestra director, arranger, and producer. Notable works include "Angela", dedicated to activist Angela Davis, and the album È lunga la strada (1972). Savona passed away on August 27, 2009, in Milan. Posthumously, his work was celebrated with releases like Cose Delicate (2005).
