Oxavia Aldiano (born on March 29, 1990), also known as Vidi Aldiano, was an Indonesian singer-songwriter and actor. Born into a musical household, Aldiano showed great aptitude for music from a very early age, mastering the piano at the age of 3 and studying violin during his teenage years. After recording a self-produced demo that was turned down by several labels, producer Lala Hamid took him under his wing after watching him sing at one of his shows. Pelangi di Malam Hari, his studio debut, saw the light in 2008 via Trinity Optima Production and featured a couple of covers (âNuansa Bening,â âCinta Tanpa Kau Terbangâ) plus some original songs by the young singer (âKisah Kitaâ). Sophomore effort Lelaki Pilihan (2009) was followed by Yang Kedua (2011), which spawned the hit singles âDatang dan Kembaliâ and âGadis Genit.â In 2013, Aldiano relocated to Manchester to finish his masterâs degree and released the EP Dunia Baru. Upon his return to his home country in 2015, he delivered the single âMembiasakan Cinta,â which served as a teaser for Persona (2016), his third studio full-length. The album produced two more singles, the Chrisye cover âAku Cinta Diaâ and âHingga Nanti,â a collaboration with jazz musician Andien that received heavy airplay on Indonesian radios. Following a long delay caused by the pandemic and his health struggles, Aldiano released his final and best-selling album, Senandika, in 2022, featuring deeply personal songs about his life and battle with illness. Diagnosed with stage 3 kidney cancer in 2019, he underwent surgery and years of regular chemotherapy as the cancer returned. Despite seeking various treatments, including detoxification that impacted his mental and physical health, Aldiano passed away from the disease on 7 March 2026 at the age of 35.
