Hansol Vernon Chwe, better known as Vernon, was born on February 18, 1998, in Tisch Hospital, Manhattan, to a Korean father and an American mother. The family relocated to Hongdae, South Korea when he was five. He was homeschooled after being scouted by Pledis Entertainment, where he later trained and joined the South Korean boy band Seventeen. Vernon, who uses his mother's maiden name as his stage name, made his debut with Seventeen in 2015 and has since contributed to the songwriting of over 90 songs. He released his first solo mixtape, "Black Eye", in December 2022 and has collaborated with artists like Charli XCX. As of 2024, he is a regular member of the Korean Music Copyright Association.
