American poet Ursula Rucker has surrounded herself with musicians such as King Britt and Jazzanova to produce albums in a genre known as spoken word. On Supa Sista (2001) and Ma'at Mama (2006), her socio-politically engaged lyrics, spiced up with her incisive, witty pen, are enhanced by her sensual declamation and soul, jazz and trip-hop ambiences.
