April Harper Grey (born April 21, 2000, San Francisco, California) is an American singer‑songwriter and producer who performs as underscores. She began releasing dubstep tracks on SoundCloud at thirteen, later expanding into pop‑punk, hyperpop, and electronic dance music. Grey’s early EPs-Skin Purifying Treatment (2018), We Never Got Strawberry Cake (2019), and Character Development! (2020)-established her experimental style. In March 2021 she released her debut album Fishmonger, followed by the companion EP Boneyard AKA Fearmonger (December 2021). Her second studio album, Wallsocket, dropped on September 22, 2023 under Mom + Pop, accompanied by an alternate reality game and a North American headlining tour. In March 2026 she issued her third album U. Underscores has toured with 100 gecs, performed at Lollapalooza, and received critical acclaim from outlets such as The Atlantic and NME, marking her as a notable figure in contemporary electronic scene.
