Uma no Hone is the solo project of Yasuyuki Horigome, best known as the main vocalist and songwriter of the acclaimed Japanese pop band Kirinji. Launched in the mid-2000s, Uma no Hone represents a conscious step away from Kirinjiâs refined, urban, and meticulously arranged pop sound. As Uma no Hone, Horigome explores themes of everyday life, quiet humor, and fleeting emotions, delivered through warm melodies, understated grooves, and lyrics that feel closer to spoken thought than polished poetry. The music balances rock, soul, folk, and pop sensibilities, creating a sound that feels both intimate and restless. Tracks such as âMoegaraâ(2005), âSentimental Journeyâ, and âRed light, Blue light, Yellow lightâ(2005) highlight his knack for crafting memorable songs with subtle emotional depth, while later works show a growing confidence in simplicity and space. Within this artistic freedom, songs like âLet's Get Crazyâ from the album Best of Uma No Hone 2005-2025 (2025)stand out as expressions of spontaneity and release, capturing the spirit of experimentation that defines the project.
