The Suicideboys, officially stylized as $uicideboy$, is an American rap duo formed in 2013 by cousins Scott Anthony "$crim" Arceneaux Jr. (born April 11 1989, Marrero, Louisiana) and Aristos Norman "Ruby da Cherry" Petrou (born April 22 1990, Metairie, Louisiana). Both began experimenting with music in their youth; Arceneaux learning to DJ and produce on a laptop acquired from drug sales, and Petrou playing violin and drums before joining local punk bands. The pair met in high school, shared a dissatisfaction with their prospects, and created a pact to pursue music or end their lives, which later became a recurring theme in their work. The duo first gained attention with the Kill Yourself Part I: The $uicide $aga EP in June 2014, released on SoundCloud and Bandcamp, and followed by a series of Kill Yourself installments. In 2015 they released the full‑length Gray/Grey, which marked their entry into the underground rap scene. The 2016 EP Radical $uicide peaked at number 17 on the Billboard Rap charts, signaling broader recognition. In September 2018, their debut studio album I Want to Die in New Orleans entered the US Billboard 200 at number 10, the first top‑ten entry for the group and a commercial milestone. The same year they collaborated with Travis Barker and James Shaffer on the EP Live Fast, Die Whenever, further expanding their audience. Following a brief hiatus, the duo returned with Long Term Effects of Suffering in August 2021, a second studio album that received a gold certification from the RIAA. In July 2022 they released Sing Me a Lullaby, My Sweet Temptation, the third studio effort, which achieved platinum status. In May 2023 they launched the YIN YANG TAPES series: Spring Season, Summer Season, Fall Season, and Winter Season-each featuring guest artists such as Ghostemane, Freddie Dredd, and others, showcasing their versatility across subgenres. Their 2024 studio album New World Depression was released on June 14, earning a gold certification and reinforcing their presence on the charts. Thy Will Be Done saw its release in 2026. Throughout their career, The Suicideboys have maintained an independent approach, operating under their own label G59 Records with distribution by The Orchard.
