Troye Sivan

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, on June 5, 1995, Troye Sivan Mellet moved with his family to Perth, Australia, at the age of two. He began singing publicly as a child and built an online audience through YouTube videos and Australian talent competitions before seeking a record deal. After signing with EMI Australia in 2013, he kept the news from his followers for about a year. His early internet following helped earn him a place on Time magazine’s 2014 list of the 25 most influential teens. Troye Sivan also began acting as a teenager. At 14, he played the young Wolverine in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), then starred as the title character in the South African Spud film trilogy. His music career gathered pace with TRXYE (2014), which reached number 5 on the Billboard 200. The 2015 EP Wild topped Australia’s ARIA Albums Chart and also reached number 5 in the United States; those were achievements of the EP itself, rather than its title track. His debut album, Blue Neighbourhood, followed in December 2015 and reached the top 10 in Australia, New Zealand and the US. Singles including “Youth” and “Talk Me Down” helped introduce the album to a wider audience, and it earned platinum certification in Australia and gold certifications in the US and UK. His second album, the more guitar-led pop set Bloom (2018), peaked at number 4 in the US and featured “Dance to This,” a duet with Ariana Grande. It received an ARIA Award nomination for Album of the Year. That year, Troye Sivan also collaborated with Jónsi on “Revelation,” from the Boy Erased soundtrack; the song earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song. Released in 2020, his fifth EP, In a Dream, moved toward dance and electronic pop, with “Take Yourself Home,” “Easy” and “Rager Teenager!” among its singles. After starring as Xander in HBO’s The Idol in 2023, Troye Sivan returned to albums with Something to Give Each Other. Its lead single, “Rush,” earned two Grammy nominations, while the album won three ARIA Awards in 2024, including Album of the Year. Troye Sivan toured the album and co-headlined the 2024 Sweat Tour with Charli XCX. In 2025, he won the ARIA Award for Best Australian Live Act. In 2026, he released “She’s the Best” and “Party” ahead of the October 9 release of his fourth album, She’s the Best.
