Tokischa

Moving effortlessly between trap, hip-hop, and dembow, Dominican Latin urban artist Tokischa Altagracia Peralta (March 17, 1996), known mononymously as Tokischa, rose to fame thanks to equal doses of musical talent and controversy. Born in the city of San Felipe de Puerto Plata, she spent her teenage years in the neighborhood of Los Frailes in Santo Domingo and honed her creative skills from a very early age by studying fine and dramatic arts. Tokischa entered the music industry after working as a model for photographer Raymi Paulus, who signed her to his label Paulus Music. “Pícala,” her debut single featuring Tivi Gunz, came out in 2018 and became a regional success, with its accompanying video reaching 1 million views in the week of its release. In 2019, she recorded the song “Perras Como Tú” for the Mexican film Miss Bala: Merciless and issued several singles that ended up going viral on social media, including “Twerk” with Eladio Carrión, “Varón,” “Desacato Escolar” with Yomel El Meloso and Leo RD, and “El Rey de la Popola” with Rochy RD. In 2021, she made international headlines by landing collaborative tracks with J Balvin (“Perra”) Spanish pop diva Rosalía (“Linda”), which helped expose her music to a wider audience. She built on that exposure in 2022 by reuniting with Rosalía on “La Combi Versace” from Motomami, appearing on Ozuna’s “Somos Iguales,” which later reached Number 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart, and teaming with Madonna for “Hung Up on Tokischa,” first unveiled live at Madonna’s Pride event in New York before its official release that September. In 2023, she added another crossover moment and picked up a Premios Juventud win for “Delincuente,” her collaboration with Anuel AA and Ñengo Flow. In 2024, Tokischa moved further into the business side of her career by launching her own label, SOL, through a partnership with Warner Music Latina and signing her first global publishing deal with Warner Chappell, while continuing to release and feature on high-profile tracks including Bad Gyal’s “Chulo Pt. 2,” Arca’s “Chama,” and “De Maravisha” with Nathy Peluso, produced by Skrillex. “De Maravisha” later earned a Latin Grammy nomination, and in April 2026 Tokischa released her debut album, Amor & Droga, a more personal project whose material had been taking shape since 2021.
