Cristóbal Álvarez, known artistically as Tobal MJ, is a Chilean urban singer and rapper from La Serena who began releasing music independently in 2022, building an early following with tracks such as “Flotao” and several collaborations that circulated through Chile’s emerging trap and reggaetón scene. As he developed a more polished sound in 2023 and 2024, he aligned with producers from the northern Chilean urbano circuit and steadily grew his visibility on social media, where each new release helped strengthen his position among the country’s newest wave of young artists. In early 2025 Tobal MJ signed with Stars Music Chile and entered a more professional phase, releasing “Tiene” with Lucky Brown, a collaboration that broadened his reach, followed by “Pichea,” produced by Nacho G Flow, which generated traction across national playlists and introduced his mix of melodic reggaetón and street-leaning trap to a larger audience. His breakthrough arrived on 25 October 2025 with “Te Vas,” a single recorded with Lyon la f and produced by Nacho G Flow and Daimi, which reached number 6 on the Chilean Billboard charts.
