Tiee

Diógines Ferreira de Carvalho, known as Tiee, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born in 1986 in São Gonçalo, Rio de Janeiro, who first honed his craft playing cavaquinho, guitar, and banjo autodidactically in samba rodas at age 12 alongside his composer father. He began his formal musical journey performing with his brother in local venues before joining the samba group Vai por Mim, whose song “Embolaê” received radio airplay. In 2004, he served as a cavaquinist for Unidos do Viradouro samba school and earned his first samba composition in their repertoire. His breakout came in 2016 with his self-titled debut solo album Tiee, released by Deck and produced by Wilson Prateado, featuring Ferrugem on the track “Eu fico.” In 2019, he signed with Som Livre, contributing to Mali’s DVD and solidifying his presence in the samba scene; that same year, several of his compositions were recorded by renowned artists such as Arlindo Cruz, Fundo de Quintal, Péricles, Bom Gosto, Ferrugem, Belo, and Thiaguinho. He expanded his discography with the 2020 audiovisual double-release Ladrão de Coração (Ao Vivo), recorded in Rio de Janeiro and featuring guest artists like Thiaguinho, Péricles, Xande de Pilares, Jorge Aragão, Ferrugem, Belo, and Grupo Revelação. In 2021, he issued the intimate live DVD As que tocam lá em Casa, blending live covers of Brazilian classics with two originals, “190” and “Dor de cotovelo.” His Samba pro meu povo audiovisual project in 2022—divided into “Bloco: Referências” and “Bloco Rua Mariana”—continued that trend, while in 2023 he launched the live project Subúrbio, featuring Salgadinho, Rodriguinho, and Paulinho. Subsequently, in 2024, Tiee released Quintal do Subúrbio via Som Livre, a live album recorded in São João de Meriti and featuring Xande de Pilares and Marquinhos Sensação, and 2025's Subúrbio no Engenhão.
