The Watanabes

The Watanabes, a British indie pop rock band formed in 2005 by brothers Duncan Walsh and Selwyn Walsh, emerged from Ehime, Japan where the founders worked as ALTs. Their debut album Independent Social Power (2009) introduced their jangly, 1960s‑influenced sound to Tokyo audiences. In 2011, they released You're Dancing I'm Absorbed, featuring Kate Sikora and Nick Duffy, and later the EP Draw What You Like (2014). The 2017 album Spoiled and Nostalgic combined earlier EPs, while the 2020 single "Christmas Hummingbird" was promoted by InterFM DJ Guy Perryman.
