The Serendipity Singers

The Serendipity Singers, a 1960s American folk group, originated from the University of Colorado as the Newport Singers. The original members included Bryan Sennett, Brooks Hatch, Mike Brovsky, John Madden, Jon Arbenz, Bob Young, and Lynne Weintraub. After moving to New York City in 1963, they were managed by Fred Weintraub and renamed the Serendipity Singers. Their debut single "Don't Let The Rain Come Down (Crooked Little Man)" was released in 1964 and reached number 6 on the Hot 100 chart and number 2 on the U.S. Adult Contemporary chart, earning a Grammy nomination for Best Performance by a Chorus in 1965. Their follow-up single "Beans In My Ears" (1964) also charted, reaching number 30 on the Hot 100. The group released six albums with Philips Records between 1964 and 1965, including The Serendipity Singers (1964), Take Your Shoes Off With The Serendipity Singers (1965), The Way West (1967), and Love Is a State of Mind (1968). Despite lineup changes and the impact of the British Invasion, they continued to perform extensively on television shows and college circuits. Their final studio album Musical Postcard From Vail was released in 1974 via Empire Records.
