The Pacific Ocean was an American indie rock band formed in 1996 and based in New York City. The group consisted of Connie Lovatt on vocals and bass, Edward Baluyut on guitar, vocals, and drums, and Steve Pilgrim on drums and keyboards. Their debut EP Birds Don't Think They're Flying was released in 1997 on Enchanté Records. In 1999, the band released their first full-length album, Less Than The Needle, More Than The Shotgun, co-produced by James Baluyut. The Pacific Ocean toured extensively with bands such as Versus and The Magnetic Fields. Their third and final album, So Beautiful And Cheap And Warm, was released in 2002 on TeenBeat Records. After disbanding in 2003, Connie Lovatt played bass for Smog on their 2005 album A River Ain't Too Much to Love.
