Call them Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, or simply The Miracles, this rhythm and blues, soul, disco and doo woop band from Detroit, Michigan, went down in popular music history as the first to be signed to the Tamla Motown label in 1959. Twenty-six Top 10 singles ("Shop Around", "Going To A Go-Go", "You've Really Got A Hold On Me", "The Tears Of A Clown") later, the group faded away in 1972, to make way for the successful solo career of Smokey Robinson.
